Ingredients

Cheese Preparation
  • 8 oz cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or your favorite melty cheese)
Breading Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Frying Ingredients
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Serving Suggestion
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping, optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut cheese into bite-sized cubes and freeze for about 30 minutes to help the cheese hold its shape during frying.
  2. Arrange three bowls with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper for the breading process.
Breading
  1. Coat each frozen cheese cube in flour, then dip in eggs, and finally roll in breadcrumbs to achieve a perfect crunch.
Frying
  1. Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry cheese bites in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
  3. Remove bites and drain on paper towels.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with marinara for dipping, if desired.

Notes

For best results, chill the cheese thoroughly before battering. Feel free to experiment with different cheeses and spices for unique flavors. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days, reheating in the oven for crispiness.
